Elle Decor April 2016
We were thrilled to have our recently completed Mill Valley, California, project featured on the cover of Elle Décor’s April issue. A true passion project for us and for our clients, a young family relocating to the Bay Area from New York, we completely rebuilt and expanded a 19th century cottage to make it a comfortable, character-filled family home. Eric Piasecki’s luminous photographs capture the home’s quirky charm and Celia Barbour’s text offers detailed insight into the transformation, which was a close collaboration with London-based interior decorator Rita Konig, landscape designer Frederika Moller, and local architect Barbara Chambers of Chambers + Chambers in Mill Valley. THE NEW BOOK PEDAGOGY AND PLACE: 100 YEARS OF ARCHITECTURE EDUCATION AT YALE by Robert A. M. Stern and Jimmy Stamp marks the centennial of the establishment of Yale’s School of Architecture and examines the impact of those who have taught and studied there. The tome also extends beyond Yale, exploring the history of the architectural profession in the 20th century. Gil, featured in “Chapter 8: Rappel à l’Ordre, 1985-1992,” was interviewed about his path to classicism and shares firsthand anecdotes about the nature of his architectural education and his involvement in the program during the mid-to-late 1980s. Photos and renderings from his work at Yale illustrate the chapter.
