WHAT AN HONOR to have our New Stone Country House receive a 2023 Palladio Award for Interior Architectural Design. We collaborated with Thomas Jayne for interiors and Deborah Nevins for landscape on this new house in the Hudson Valley, which was designed to echo the classical formality of England’s grand 18th and 19th-century Palladian country houses through its highly articulated detailing and Grecian-infused moldings, fireplace mantels, and plaster ceiling rosettes. As is evident in the photo-covered walls of the GPSA conference room, seen here, Gil has been hard at work on his new book, Home At Last: Enduring Design for the New American House, which is being published by Rizzoli in Spring 2024. Stay tuned for the book cover reveal, sneak peeks, and more information on events.

Recent Media

WE ARE THRILLED to have our work featured in some recent magazine and newspaper stories, including a Wall Street Journal piece on lacquered outdoor furniture, which includes a new residence we designed in Southern Georgia; a library we designed in a family apartment on Fifth Avenue, which was featured in the winter issue of Galerie; and an expansive feature on Gil and his houses in the Hudson Valley and Maine in Kinfolk magazine’s summer issue, which explores his personal evolution as an architect and how he lives at home. Additionally, the July/August issue of Veranda magazine features a newly completed Newport Beach project that we worked on in collaboration with design legend Suzanne Rheinstein on interiors and the talented Kathryn Herman on landscape design. A Farewell to Mickey Benson

This past spring, we said goodbye to our longtime Principal and Studio Director, Mickey Benson, who decided to leave the practice to relocate to New Hampshire. It has long been a dream of Mickey’s to live and work in rural New England, and we are happy for him that he is finally realizing this long-held goal. In his seventeen years with GPSA, Mickey has been integral to our work, having been involved in over 120 of our projects. His deft leadership in both design and project management, as well as working closely with clients and with GPSA partners Gil and Lou in making critical firm decisions over the years, has been key to our growth and evolution as a company. It’s no surprise that Mickey has been beloved by both team members and clients alike. We wish him well in this next chapter of his life and career and remain profoundly grateful for all that he brought to our work and the culture of the firm.

WE ARE HAPPY TO welcome a talented group of summer interns to our office for the season.  (Left to Right) Vladimir Reed, a student at Bowdoin College; Emily Fuchs, a student at the University of Notre Dame; and Kayla Rembold and Isabella Zayas, from the University of Miami, are all joining the Architecture team as interns.  Anika Sanchez-Piotrowski (far left), from the University of Virginia, is interning with our Decorating department.

Our annual team trip out to the ballpark, crackerjacks included, was on June 1st and we had a great time at Citifield watching the Mets take on the Phillies for a win! Go Mets!
